225.00

July 18th from 7:00PM - 1:30AM

WildCat Bluff Nature Center
2301 N. Soncy, Amarillo 79124

Wild Cat Bluff is a Nature Center located just outside of Amarillo on 600 + acres.  The main part of Nature Center has concrete pathways and several locations that make perfect foregrounds with easy access. So there is not hard hiking to location

This is a three part workshop:

7pm
Meet at Wild Cat Bluff at 7pm to Familiarize yourself with the bluff and shooting location in the day time and then classroom instruction on the use of intravalometer (that is the correct spelling) and night photography in general.

There are bathrooms within walking distance of where will be shooting.

10:30pm to 12am
Actually shooting the stars over Wild Cat Bluff.

Break for half hour

12:30-1:30 am

Processing instructions for Star Stacks and Windows movie maker.

The workshop will teach you the basics of photographing the night sky and the math involved as well as the basic instructions for shooting star trails. Afterwards you will be given a free DVD with a program that will aid in that and instruction on how to use it.

Finally, you will learn the basics of creating a time lapse in the free Windows movie maker will be taught.

Items needed:

DSLR with Bulb mode
intravalometer* (available on Amazon)
tripod
wide angle lens is preferred but needed

*Please either know how to use your intravalometer and how to set your camera on it, or bring the manuals.  While Jim has a large experience with many camera brands, he doesn't know them all and wants to be able to devote as much time to teaching about night photography rather working on specifics with equipment.
